One of my husband’s and I favorite weekend adventures happens to be going up to the Santa Ynez Valley for walks around Los Olivos, browsing boutiques and wine tasting. We’re so lucky to have this beautiful place right over the hill from us here in Santa Barbara.

This year was our 8th wedding anniversary and my husband, Carey took me on a surprise getaway to Yosemite National Park!
I had dreamed of staying at The Ahwahnee Hotel since I was a little girl, and to my surprise Carey was able to get a balcony suite over looking Half Dome, without booking one year in advance! I couldn’t have felt luckier to have spent my first time ever in Yosemite at The Ahwahnee. It was truly magical witnessing nature at it’s best. I had always dreamed of going to Paris since I was a little girl and when my husband said we should go and visit his aunt and uncle I jumped at the opportunity.
We went mid March through first week of April staying half the time in the 17th district only about a mile down the road from Montmartre and our last 14 days was spent on a cute street called Quai Voltaire on the left bank. We were really lucky to get a solid feel of the whole city.
The majority of our days were spent exploring different districts, museums, biking the entire Seine, shopping and brunching at various cafes, yet the best part of my Paris adventure was getting to dress in my Winter wardrobe that I rarely bring out in California!
I tried to stay with a fairly neutral palette when packing for Paris, which allowed me to mix and match pieces easily throughout 17 days of travel.
I can’t wait to go back and hopefully explore Southern France next time!
